We kick off, in February 2016, a think tank, Mining In Africa, to focus more closely on highlights, strong and weak fundamental topics, of mineral resources and to define challenges to overcome for a growth of the African added values.
Those who are the strength and the weakness of Africa! In the past as in the future.
Whether to the most upstream target, as geoscientists bases starting with the mapping (which is no longer carried out!) through the mining inventory and exploration.
Further by using tools that are overlooked such as mechanisms for geneses of formations and location of mineral concentrations.
Additionally on pure metallogeny of basic metals, to the most downstream point as “how to move further towards by adding more value within Africa”. The metal concentrates are exported but the sanitary, tableware and tiles are imported!
It overflows to other disciplines around the frontiers of geosciences, but as it is said, in sciences there are no boundaries, only bridges.
Right now the think tank gathered the following members:
Belkacem Touahri (Mining Geology)
Youssef Daafi (Metallogeny)
Geoscientists, members of GASS or potential ones, interested to join us, are most welcome!
